Castlevania

Description: Adventure Game

Here's a real name setter. Anyone who grew up in the 1900s up until today has heard the name Count Dracula several times in their life. Well Castlevania is a gam ebased on defeating the evil Dark Lord Dracula. This classic game title is the series starter, it set up the building blocks for many games to come. Nearly 25 years later, we are still seeing new Castlevania games being released on the newest gaming consoles. With the current "Vampire & Zombie hype", it's not a shock that these games are so popular. This classic title is a must-have for any series classic gamer or game collector.

In this game, you play a Vampire Hunter named Simon Belmont who's roaming the halls of Dracula's mystical castle. You are armed with an upgradeable Whip and a variety of secondary weapons (axe, daggar, boomarang, and holy water). As you travel through the castle you can collect hearts and find these secondary weapons (note: you can only have 1 secondary item at a time). The hearts you find are consumed when you use your secondary item, you must have hearts in order to use these items! Your ultimate goal is to slay the Dark Lord himself. This turns out to be tougher than expected, the Castle is filled with all sorts of creatures such as zombies, skeletons, flying medusa heads, merm-people, bats, and armored knights. On top of these lesser badies, you have a full set of "themed Bosses" such as Medusa, the Mummy, Frankenstein & Igor, The Grim Reaper (Death), and of course, Dracula himself.

This game is best played with a Gamepad or some type of Controller, but the keyboard controls weren't so bad. Arrow Keys, Enter, and Spacebar are all you need to get going. The audio quality for this emulation isn't the best, but the game itself plays smoothly on the default settings. After replaying this title, I was ready to go to eBay and purchase a copy of Castlevania for NES because it's just that awesome.
