Old Nintendo Sells For $13,000

Author // Sean

Celebrating the classics is what we do here at Old School Apps, so here is a nice "found some gold in the attic" story for you. Collectors of old Nintendo games have been known to spend 5 figures on sought after games, one Ebay user wasn't expecting to get that money for an auction they posted though.

Stadium Events NES

Last week, Ebay user lace_thongs35 from North Carolina put up what she though was an everyday auction for an 80's NES (coming with 5 games). An hour after the first bid was placed, the auction was for over $6,000, then on Wednesday when the auction closed, the final price was $13,105.

The NES itself was obviously not the cause of this price, bundled in the games along with was the rare "Stadium Events", highly sought after by NES games collectors. Also, it wasn't even the game itself that was worth the bulk of the cash, it was the original cardboard box it comes in, valued at $10,000. Less then 10 complete copies of the game are said to exist, and retro collectors consider it one of the hardest of the NES ever made to be found.

Crap, now where did I put my copy of Stadium Events in its original cardboard box? Yea, I wish.
