What's New on Old School Apps Vol 10

Week 10 already? Time sure flies, the summer is winding down, but don't worry, we'll still be in full swing come this Fall. Our plan is to upgrade our hosting package sometime this fall or move to a new host, as many of yoou have probably noticed this past week we've had many loading problems and in general, performance issues. This is because we're growing outside our plan I believe, hasn't been confirmed yet, but from what I've seen so far, is most likely the case. Optimization has been and will continue to take up a bulk of our time over the next week until our site is back on track and loading as good sites should!

Last week I mentioned the addition of community features. Our forums are under construction and will not be released until the bulk of our performance problems are fixed. The same goes with member messaging, community contests, and new section content (MIDs, Sprites, etc). We will however continue to bulk up our downloadable games and playable game sections. On that note, this week we've managed to scrap up three new games, read on for more details...

Final Fantasy 7Welcome to Volume 3 of "Then and Now" here at Old School Apps. Once again we are continuing our look at the Final Fantasy Series, yesterday we looked at titles 4-6 for the SNES. Today we will check out the games that were released for the PlayStation, titles 7-9. Having moved from the SNES to the PlayStation, Final Fantasy games were now able to be entirely 3-d, unlike its predecessors. Final Fantasy broke new grounds once again with these games and even ported 2 of them to Windows. PlayStation also saw the release of many other Final Fantasy games, including: Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Anthology, Final Fantasy Chronicles and a re-release of Final Fantasy 6. We will discuss those at a later time. OK, game time, let's start off by taking a look at Final Fantasy 7, the first of the series for PlayStation.

Old School Apps is an abandonware apps site which offers free game downloads and old apps dating back to the MS-DOS days.

Our abandonware games collection is one of the most complete archives on the Internet. We offer game downloads from the most popular genres available: adventure games, action games, board games, education games, puzzle games, racing games, roleplaying games, simulation games, sports games, strategy games, and text based games. We've recently added an online arcade which is filled with over a hundred classic nintendo games that you can play directly from your browser. These online nintendo games use Java and vNES to emulate old games without the hassle of having to download and install third-party software.
