Final Fantasy History - Part 4
Written by Sean
Thursday    August 20, 2009 - 12:00

Final Fantasy X Sin Hello and welcome to Volume 4 of "Then and Now" here at Old School Apps. I apologize for the delay in getting this issue up, we have had some server issues here at Old School Apps, but things have started to straighten out. Today in the final part of the the "Final Fantasy Series of Then and Now" we will look at Final Fantasy 10,11 and 12. For the first time ever there was also a sequel to a game, Final Fantasy X was led up by Final Fantasy X-2, but we will discuss that at a later time. All three of these games were released for the PlayStation, and Final Fantasy 11 was an MMORPG that was also released for the PC as well as PlayStation 2. Being ported to the new system for the first time starting with Final Fantasy 10 saw a significant increase in graphics, including some very memorable cut scenes. OK, lets get on with it shall we? Let's start by examining Final Fantasy 10, the first game released in the series for the PlayStation 2.

Video Games for Depression?
Written by Dan
Wednesday    August 19, 2009 - 11:58

It's pretty uncommon to hear good news about video games in the media these days, especially when you hear about societal outcasts who brutally take out several people before taking their own life. I'm not naming situations but I'm sure everyone can think of a few major events from the past few years. Today I came across an article that says just the opposite. Now, the person mentioned wasn't playing Grand Theft Auto or Halo, but nonetheless, video games seem to be the cure for one person, quite possibly hundreds of thousands of people.

Medication Pills

People who suffer from depression or insomnia can find video games to be a great method to spend their hours at night. Video games can distract you from your problems and put you in a different state of mind while remaining in an enjoyable and safe environment. The game of choice by this individual was a game created by PopCap Games, and a game I'm sure many of us have seen and heard of on different websites (and even cellphones) - Bejeweled.

Temporary Problems
Written by Dan
Tuesday    August 18, 2009 - 12:18

Update: The site appears to be getting back on it's feet but we'll keep a close watch on this over the next day or 2 to make sure.

We're having some problems with our host, this is why the site seems available randomly throughout the day. So far our host has provided no insight on why this is happening and we'll be looking for a much higher quality host to move to sometime soon. Sorry for the problems.
