Slow Week
Written by Dan
Sunday    August 30, 2009 - 11:10

Things will continue to be slow for the next week or 2 as we look into moving to a better host. GoDaddy's inconsistency isn't cutting it and their lack of support is appalling. The site will remain up and minor updates will occur from time to time, but don't expect as many frontpage updates as we've had in the past, until the move is complete.

Project Natal
Written by Dan
Wednesday    August 26, 2009 - 12:00

It's very rare for me to post a youtube video or to send a youtube video to people, I try not to go to the website much at all actually. However, when a friend of mine showed me this video, I must say I was a bit skeptical about it, but by the end I was fairly impressed by this upcoming virtual interaction meeting real world interactions. One might say this type of technology is beyond belief... with the exceptional that it's real, and it's coming... sooner than you'd expect!

Project Natal is a new feature coming to the Xbox 360 which will give it "Nintendo Wii-like features" to allow for more entertaining and physically involved video games. It would appear that the controller is being phased out.

What's New on Old School Apps Vol 11

A bit late today, but I guess it's better than no update at all, right? This week we experienced some extreme server difficulty and almost caused me to run out and sign up for a dedicated host. Fortunately after doing some analzying, I found ways to improve the site's performance without spending a dime. The Online (Java) Arcade now has about 80 games in it and will continue to grow with each week, if there is an unlisted game you'd like, you'll be able to post about it on our upcoming message boards. They are just about done and should be live by the first week in September.

Besides for adding new features, we've also been working hard to upgrade the quality of content on our downloadable game titles (no, we haven't completely forgotten about that section of our site). We'll be trying to bang out one category a week. We're adding brief descriptions to all games which haven't been fully reviewed, which by the way anyone is more than welcome to do! Sign up and submit your game reviews to receive credit as well as a backlink to your personal page, blog, or social networking page (your choice!)

That just about wraps it up for this week, not much progress was made, but we'll keep at it, week after week!

Old School Apps is an abandonware apps site which offers free game downloads and old apps dating back to the MS-DOS days.

Our abandonware games collection is one of the most complete archives on the Internet. We offer game downloads from the most popular genres available: adventure games, action games, board games, education games, puzzle games, racing games, roleplaying games, simulation games, sports games, strategy games, and text based games. We've recently added an online arcade which is filled with over a hundred classic nintendo games that you can play directly from your browser. These online nintendo games use Java and vNES to emulate old games without the hassle of having to download and install third-party software.
