Meet Sean.
Written by Sean

My name is Sean and I am one of the guys that helps design graphics and write articles for OSA. I do a lot of the graphic work and help out with the development of future ideas. I have been blasting away at all sorts of games since a young age, and still love it all to this day. From Atari to NES, to SNES, SEGA, PS1, PS2 , Xbox , PC, I LOVE it all ! However, with all the classics we have at our fingertips, i was never able to shy away from where it all started. This is why i will always have a love for the (excuse me, i must say it) Old School Apps. Nothing can replace the games we grew up on!

I always love to go back and re visit the youth of my childhood gaming. Sure, i have many new age games installed on my PC, and love to play and embrace them for how far gaming has advanced, yet i still find myself going back to the classics on a consistent basis to dive into the games that made me the gamer i am today. I admit that i am a WoW player, and have an account with my decked out character, but that will never take the place of the games i grew up with. I am an avid RPG gamer, and damn proud of it. There is nothing better then crawling those classic dungeons, slaying those monsters that the creators of the genre have given to us, and, most of all, being proud of it! Classic gaming FTW!

All in all, I'll toss you a bit about me aside from gaming, I reside in NY, I love to write and have a website other then this that i can't wait too launch  ( details of that will come soon). I also love taking pictures of the world, consider myself an amateur photographer and would one day like too travel everywhere to capture images of the world!

Hopefullly we will see more of you here at OSA! Take part in our contests, sign up and be a part of our community!

Introducing dB...
Written by Dan
Tuesday    June 23, 2009 - 12:00

My name is Dan and I'm one of the guys behind this website. I do a majority of the web coding and database work. I've been playing video games since age 4. I grew up with an Atari, a Colecovision, an Intellivision, and a Nintendo (NES). As newer systems came out, I was always late to jump on the bandwagon, I was never ready for the next-gen systems because the old systems still have so much they can offer. With 1000s of game titles to choose from, how could you possibly be able move on to the next gen system without conquering everything the 8-bit Worlds have to offer?

Even today, I'm finding it hard to move on. I play a variety of games, both new and old, but I find most of my time playing a game that's over a decade old, yet it's still going strong. This game is Ultima Online, the first MMORPG and a real genre-setter. I have tried to play the newer MMOs but I always fall back into UO somehow. I've only recently finally accepted this and decided to put off the newer games, because it'll just land me back in the same spot within 6 months. From time to time I'll find myself playing Guild Wars, but I have no guild or any friends playing it anymore. I current spend some of my freetime playing on a private server called Second Age. When I'm not looting houses on UO but still need a quick gaming fix, I play Combat Arms with Sean. You can bet some future updates will have random tales of adventure or screenshots of the carnage.

Off the topic of gaming and the game industry, I'm currently residing in Albany NY, I moved here after graduating Purchase College with a BA in New Media. I spend most my days working as a freelance Web Developer. I've been working on Old School Apps non-stop since November, even if it seems like not much is going on here, trust me, I've been working on it.  My online portfolio is located here, it's still under reworks but check it out if you have a minute.

Something not everyone knows about me is that I've been on fire more than the average human.  Thanks for reading.

What's New on Old School Apps Vol 2

This week we didn't manage to accomplish all that much, a lot of the things we spent time on were future plans. The only game to be reviewed this week was Double Dragon 2 - The Revenge, which is a great game and you should really play it if you haven't already (although I'd guess many of us had it for Nintendo back in the day).

This coming week we're going to have two introductionary posts to provide a bit of information about the current OSA Team. The plan right now is that on Tuesdays there will be a short blog post by Dan, and on Thursdays there will be one by Sean. On Wednesday we plan on bringing you random game videos (not just old games, but also newer game titles, and trailers for upcoming games).

We have 2 contests coming up to hopefully get some activity from our very quiet community. We will be giving away 2, $25 Amazon Gift cards to 2 registered users in the near future, so I encourage anyone who's reading this to sign up now and to check back weekly for details. Remember, the fewer people to sign up, the greater your chances! As of now we don't have many people registered, so your chances to win are extremely high!

Have you told a friend about Old School Apps? If not, then you really should!

Webmaster dB

Old School Apps is an abandonware apps site which offers free game downloads and old apps dating back to the MS-DOS days.

Our abandonware games collection is one of the most complete archives on the Internet. We offer game downloads from the most popular genres available: adventure games, action games, board games, education games, puzzle games, racing games, roleplaying games, simulation games, sports games, strategy games, and text based games. We've recently added an online arcade which is filled with over a hundred classic nintendo games that you can play directly from your browser. These online nintendo games use Java and vNES to emulate old games without the hassle of having to download and install third-party software.
